Analyst View
Overnight on Wall Street, the S&P 500 surged 1.71% to 4,428.26 — its biggest jump since March — as investors cheered better-than-expected earnings reports from major firms such as Bank of America.


To close the week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 534.75 points to 34,912.56 while the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.73% to 14,823.43. The U.S.market closed the last trading sessions on a positive and will be expecting more corporate earnings reports and industrial production figures.


In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 lost 0.3% in morning trade. Healthcare and real-estate sectors led the losses while utilities and energy sectors rose. The U.K.’s FTSE 100, which is dominated by large international businesses, was down 0.1%. Other stock indexes in Europe were mixed as the U.K.’s FTSE 250 was broadly flat, whereas France’s CAC 40 was lower 0.7% and Germany’s DAX shed 0.3%.

Asian stock rose on Friday towing the same positive path as the US market; Mainland Chinese stocks closed higher, with the Shanghai composite up 0.4% to 3,572.37 while the Shenzhen component gained 0.52% to 14,415.99. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 climbed 1.81% to close at 29,068.63 while the Topix index advanced 1.86% to finish the trading day at 2,023.93. South Korea’s Kospi closed 0.88% higher at 3,015.06.

The Hang Seng index was 1.17% higher, as of its final hour of trading. Hong Kong stocks returned to trade on Friday after stock markets in the city were closed for two days while Taiex in Taiwan surged 2.4% on the day to 16,781.19, leading to gains among the region’s major markets, as shares of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company rose 4.71% following an earnings release a day earlier.

In commodities, international benchmark Brent crude was up 0.6% to $85.41 a barrel. Gold declined 0.3% to $1,763.30 a troy ounce.
