Analyst View
The US market experienced a decline across board as investors digested the Federal Reserve's plans to accelerate its pullback of economic stimulus and a jump in weekly jobless claims. Investors sold down with large-cap tech driving the decline. The Nasdaq Composite fell 2.5%, while the S&P 500 dropped 0.9% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average bucked the downtrend notching a small gain of 0.08%.

McDonald, McDonald's announced it reached a settlement with former CEO Steve Easterbrook after he was fired for having a consensual relationship with an employee. He will return $105 million in compensation to the fast-food giant. 

Vaccine makers,  Regeneron was in focus on reports its antibody cocktail loses potency against the omicron variant. Additionally, the CDC late Thursday said Moderna and Pfizer vaccines were preferred over Johnson & Johnson citing blood clot risks.

Apple Inc. And investors continue to watch Apple — although shares dipped, it remains close to becoming the first company to cross the $3 trillion mark. Shares must hit $182.856 to hit the milestone.

The European market, market opened today with London's FTSE gaining 0.27% to 7,280.5, Germany's DAX has lost 0.19% to 15,606.82 while France's CAC rose 0.21% to close at 6,990.33.

Bank of England, The Bank of England raised interest rates in the United Kingdom on Thursday to combat surging consumer prices, becoming the first central bank among the world’s leading economies to do so since the coronavirus pandemic began. The increase in the bank's main rate to 0.25% from the record low of 0.1% was a surprise, given the rapid spread of the omicron variant across the country, which is already hurting many businesses, particularly those in the hospitality sector.

Asian market, In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index slide by 1.79% to 28,545.68, Hong Kong's Hang Seng started the day at a decline to the previous day standing at 1.2%  to 23,192.63 while China's Shanghai Composite index stood at a negative 1.16% to 3,632.36 as at the time of this report.
