As the supposed Queen of Europe bows out of office after 16 years at the helm of affairs in Germany, the most prosperous European country. It is worth noting her comments as her legacy leaves on after her celebrated political leadership.

You would recall that Chancellor Angela Merkel is referred to as "the only grown-up in the room" during most of EU summits, she was all the way in the EU Bloc during the migration crisis, the euro furore, Covid-19, and the UK Brexit controversy.

The exit of Merkel the de facto leader of EU will create a big gap not only in Europe but on the world stage, “Merkel’s exit creates a problem with leadership, a hole at the heart of Europe,” said Giovanni Orsina, director of Luiss Guido Carli University’s School of Government in Rome. “Either the new chancellor fills that void, or we need to conceive of a collective convergence.”

Many analysts believe Macron the leader of France, the second-biggest economy in Europe should be the probable fit into the shoes however, time will tell whether a single individual or a group of leaders will have to collaborate to steer into the shoes of leadership in Europe.

All said and done, it is important that Europe work together in unity and deploy its resources for the common good, safety, and prosperity of its people.
