Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe 2021 Honourees

April 12, 2021

Forbes this week released their sixth annual European edition of its 30 Under 30 list, featuring the latest class of young innovators, and changemakers from across the region.

The 30 Under 30 Europe class of 2021 includes 300 honorees across each of the 10 categories, all aged under 30 years old. Against the backdrop of turbulent social and economic conditions across the region, the sixth annual Under 30 Europe list celebrates the young visionary leaders and entrepreneurs who have made their mark on business and society in the past year.

The list includes changemakers such as Giada Zhang who drew from her Chinese heritage, Italian upbringing, and international education to establish the main value proposition of her company Mulan Group, the largest prepared Asian meal production company in Italy, as well as Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford, whose campaign to provide free meals for deprived children raised £20m and forced the UK Government into a policy U-turn. These examples, as well as all Under 30s honored on the list, represent exceptional determination, creativity, and leadership at a time of global uncertainty.

The 2021 list features a diverse range of changemakers across the fields of Social Impact, Entertainment, Retail & eCommerce, Sports & Games, Science & Healthcare, Media & Marketing, Art & Culture, Manufacturing & Industry, Technology, and Finance.

To compile the 30 Under 30 Europe list, thousands of nominations were vetted, with each U30 honoree going through an in-depth evaluation process leveraging the collective wisdom of the Forbes U30 community, as well as the wide-ranging expertise of Forbes’s trusted editorial teams and expert judges including Tatyana Bakalchuk (Retail & eCommerce), the founder of Wildberries and one of the richest self-made women in the world; Years & Years musician and under 30 alum Olly Alexander (Entertainment); and author and Under 30 alum Otegha Uwagba (Media & Marketing).

Among those featured on this year’s list are Kai Collective Founder, Fisayo Longe (Arts & Culture); The Crown actor Emma Corrin (Entertainment); Yolanda Schmidtke, Co-Founder, Deputy CEO & CFO of DLE Group AG (Finance); Ehsanullah Ekhlas, CEO and Co-Founder of Unicontrol (Manufacturing & Industry); Timothy Armoo, CEO of Fanbytes (Media & Marketing); Jesaja Brinkmann, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Cara Care (Science & Healthcare); Joel Hellermark, Co-Founder and CEO of Sana Labs (Social Impact); and Christoph Biering, Head of AI and Co-Founder of Wandelbots, (Technology).

From backing campaigns for Black-owned businesses and educating young people about Covid-19 and mental health to upskilling nurses during the pandemic, in such unsettled times, this year’s European Under 30s have overcome considerable challenges by seizing opportunities to drive impactful change and leave a positive mark on the world around them.

Other notable names on the list include actors Daisy Edgar-Jones, Paul Mescal, and Bukky Bakray (the 18-year-old star of Rocks), musicians Arlo Parks and Uzo Emenike (known as MNEK), BBC News reporter Marianna Spring, and Victoria Prew, the cofounder of clothing rental platform HURR.

This year’s Class of 2021 will join Forbes’ global Under 30 community, which comprises over 10,000 connected game-changers worldwide (including over 1800 in Europe) who using their diverse skills and entrepreneurialism to drive innovation and solve global challenges.  The companies featured on this year’s list have raised $1 billion in funding and the average age is 27 years old. Despite the challenges faced over an uncertain year, Forbes found that 84% of listmakers remain optimistic about the world economy.

Under 30 honorees are judged on leadership and disruption; entrepreneurial mindset and results; and the likelihood of changing their field over the next half-century. To qualify for the list, honorees must have a strong connection to Europe, determined through citizenship, birth, or residence.

At the end of last year, Forbes launched its Forbes Under 30 Directory, the largest publicly available directory of young entrepreneurs, comprised of more than 6,000 people from around the world who have made the Forbes Under 30 Lists in North America, Europe or Asia, in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Under 30 platform.
