Abu Dhabi's Hub71 welcomes Ahmad Ali Alwan as its new Chief Executive Officer.

In Abu Dhabi, Hub71, the startup ecosystem, revealed leadership changes on Thursday. Ahmad Ali Awan, previously the deputy CEO, assumes the role of CEO from January 2024. Alwan, a founding member since 2019, was appointed deputy CEO in October 2022.

Alwan has been instrumental in driving Hub71's strategic growth, positioning it as a premier tech startup hub in the region. His efforts have supported over 260 startups in securing an impressive Dh5 billion in capital," announced the tech ecosystem.

His appointment coincides with noteworthy internal leadership changes. Basma Ahmed AlBadi AlDhaheri takes the helm as Head of Value Creation, joined by Hashem Al Kaabi as Head of Operations, Mohammed Alkhoori as Head of Marketing, and Peter Abou Hachem as Head of Growth and Strategy.

Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of Hub71, emphasized the transformative impact within Abu Dhabi's flourishing 'Falcon Economy.' Al Zaabi expressed confidence in Alwan's deep knowledge and experience, foreseeing it shaping the future of Abu Dhabi's dynamic tech ecosystem.

In 2023, Hub71 played a pivotal role in solidifying Abu Dhabi's status as the fastest-growing tech ecosystem in MENA and globally, according to Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network.

Before assuming the role of Deputy CEO, Alwan contributed to the UAE Clusters Asset Management team at Mubadala's UAE Investment Platform. His portfolio management included aerospace and technology assets based in the UAE. Prior to that, he played a critical role in launching Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners in 2019.

Additionally, Ahmad was part of Mubadala's Portfolio Strategy team, where he played a key role in formulating corporate strategy, aligning internal and stakeholder objectives, and supporting leadership with special projects. His diverse background underscores the depth of experience he brings to his role at the helm of Hub71.
